The Great Texts of the Western Tradition major is for students who are eager to wrestle with enduring questions through close reading, discussion-based seminars, and interdisciplinary learning. Each year, we welcome intellectually curious students ready to explore how classic works of literature, philosophy, theology, and politics continue to shape our world.

The Elite Academic Program Application opens each fall on September 1. Once you’ve applied to Baylor, you’ll need to select Great Texts through the University’s Elite Academic Program Application in goBaylor, where you will find full details on our programs, application steps, essay prompts, and important deadlines. Students who apply and are accepted to the B.Phil. will automatically be admitted to Great Texts.
