Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Internship
The Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) is an intensive, nine-week internship for undergraduates entering the summer before their final year or semester of study. It is designed to provide research experience and mentorship for students interested in biomedical research. Under the guidance of a faculty mentor, interns will complete an independent research project and present their findings at a competitive poster session. To learn more about this program, see SURP.
Heal the City Gap Year Internship
Heal the City is a free medical clinic that provides healthcare to the uninsured in Amarillo and the Panhandle. Heal the City has created a Heal the City Gap Year Internship program for students within the ages of 17-25. Interns have the opportunity to invest in the community as well as gain pre-professional experience. To learn more about this program, see Heal the City.
MD Anderson Undergraduate Cancer Research Internship
This competitive 10-week summer research program is designed for outstanding undergraduates interested in learning more about cancer research and treatment. The program provides education in a broad range of topics including cancer biology, prevention, and therapeutics, and students complete a mentored summer research project. Students are selected for participation by an internal committee at Baylor University; subsequently, these students will be placed in a variety of research labs at MD Anderson by the University Outreach Summer Programs administrators. Methodist Healthcare System of San Antonio CMO Summer Internship
Methodist Healthcare System (MHS) of San Antonio, in collaboration with Baylor University’s Honors College, has developed a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Summer Internship to provide undergraduate students who plan a career in healthcare the opportunity to spend 8 weeks of their summer working with senior executive leaders of MHS. The MHS CMO Summer Interns will be selected through a competitive application process coordinated with BU's Honors College and the System Chief Medical Officer of MHS.
