Secondary Majors & Minors
The University Scholars (B.A.) major enables high-achieving students to collaborate with advisors and mentors in their chosen fields, crafting individualized degree plans that optimize their academic experiences. The University Scholars (UNSC) major fosters a love of multidisciplinary discourse in the Liberal Arts and Sciences that affirms the student’s unlimited potential in the rich academic and co-curricular offerings of Baylor University. Students receive an outstanding education that can position them for success in any field; UNSC graduates are uniquely prepared for graduate school, medical school, law school, and careers across the spectrum of possibilities.
Because UNSC majors do not have the general education requirements, they have the time and space to craft their individualized plan to pursue their passions and goals that will prepare them for their future after their time at Baylor. UNSC majors can pursue approximately three academic goals. They can pursue this through concentrations, minors, or secondary majors.
- UNSC students will always have University Scholars as their primary major.
- UNSC students seeking a secondary major or minor must still complete their UNSC requirements for graduation.
- Secondary majors and minors are optional. Students may continue to pursue concentrations and graduate with a major in University Scholars.
- Students may overlap, or double-dip, one single course and that course may be shared between only one secondary major and one minor. This statement applies to all majors except the University Scholars major. In other words, no more than a maximum of three hours from the secondary major(s) may be applied to the minor(s).

Areas of study that may not be as compatible with UNSC
There are three minors and one secondary major available for UNSC majors, but all other business classes are only open to Business majors. If business is your main academic goal, then a Business major would be a better route for your time at Baylor. You may consider applying to the Baylor Business Fellows program, and you can still be part of the Honors College through the Honors Program and/or the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core.
There are three secondary majors in Music and two Music minors available for USNC students. UNSC students can only have ten hours of applied music and/or ensemble included in the required 124 hours. For this reason, it can be challenging to complete a Music secondary major in your four years at Baylor, unless you bring in a significant number of AP or dual credits.
For more information about secondary majors and minors in Music please contact School of Music Academic Advisor, Kaitlyn Hatfield Kaitlyn_Hatfield@baylor.edu.
There is a Studio Art and Art History minor available for USNC students. If Studio Art is your main academic goal, then pursuing the Studio Art major would be a better route for your time at Baylor. You can still be part of the Honors College through the Honors Program and/or Baylor Interdisciplinary Core.
There are minors in Computer Science, Data Science and Engineering available to UNSC majors. If Computer Science or Engineering is your main academic goal at Baylor then you should pursue those majors. You may also want to consider the Computer Science Fellows Program. You can still be part of the Honors College through the Honors Program and/or Baylor Interdisciplinary Core.
Students who wish to pursue Nursing should major in Nursing. You can still be part of the Honors College through the Honors Program and/or Baylor Interdisciplinary Core.
