Choose Your Degree: B.A. or B.Phil. in Great Texts
Students majoring in Great Texts of the Western Tradition can choose between two distinct degree options: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Philosophy.
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Great Texts
The B.A. offers an interdisciplinary liberal arts education. Students in this degree plan engage deeply with classic works.
Highlights:
Broad liberal arts foundation
Freedom to double major or add minors
Well-suited for students pursuing careers in law, medicine, ministry, business, or education
Students choosing to pursue a B.A. in Great Texts will only apply to the major through the Elite Application

Bachelor of Philosophy (B.Phil.) in Great Texts
The B.Phil. is a highly selective degree for students who are both academically accomplished and deeply motivated to pursue original scholarship through an intensive interdisciplinary curriculum.
Highlights:
Competitive admission: 3.8+ GPA, 1450+ SAT, 33+ ACT, or 100+ CLT
Students must pair their Great Texts major with a secondary major
Conduct original research through enrollment and completion of a thesis in the Honors Program

Both degree options provide rigorous training in close reading, critical thinking, and moral reflection. The B.A. offers breadth and flexibility, while the B.Phil. offers a unique core curriculum and research experience.
