About Ethics
The Ethics major is designed for students who want to engage deeply with some of the most important questions facing individuals, communities, and societies. From emerging technologies and healthcare to public policy, business, and law, ethical questions shape nearly every aspect of modern life. Through the study of ethics, students learn to evaluate competing values, analyze complex problems, and make thoughtful decisions grounded in reason, wisdom, and moral responsibility.
Uniquely positioned within Baylor University, the Ethics major is a jointly administered degree offered by the Honors College and the College of Arts & Sciences. Interdisciplinary by design, the program brings together insights from philosophy, theology, history, political science, and related fields while providing students with the close faculty mentorship and research opportunities. Jointly directed by faculty from both colleges and awarded with the signatures of both deans, the degree reflects a distinctive collaborative vision that is both mission-driven and academically ambitious. Designed for a small cohort of approximately 10 to 15 highly accomplished students each year, the program prepares graduates to lead thoughtfully and ethically in fields ranging from law, medicine, and public service to business, ministry, and academic research.
Because of the program's highly selective nature, students must apply for admission through the Elite Academic Programs Application in goBAYLOR.
