Great Texts in Italy offers students a unique opportunity to experience the world of medieval and Renaissance Italy while studying some of the most important texts from this period in the places where they were written, debated, and lived.

Course Options
Medieval Intellectual Tradition
GTX 2302 | 3 credit hours
Instructor: Dr. Scott Moore
An interdisciplinary course exploring major literary, philosophical, and theological texts from the medieval through early modern periods, with attention to their historical and cultural contexts.
Dante and the Italian Renaissance
GTX 4330 | 3 credit hours
Instructor: Dr. Douglas Henry
An undergraduate seminar focused on Dante’s Divine Comedy and related Renaissance writers and artists such as Petrarch, Boccaccio, Catherine of Siena, Machiavelli, and others.
Renaissance Philosophy
PHI 4V99 | 3 credit hours
Instructor: Dr. Douglas Henry
A special topics course focused on philosophical thought in the Renaissance through guided research and seminar discussion.
