- Post-grad goals: Pre-Medical/Pre-Health
Anne is a Senior University Scholar from New Ulm, Minnesota concentrating in Biochemistry, Healthcare Leadership, Piano, and Business Administration. Anne lived in Texana during her first year at Baylor and plans to attend medical school after graduation. On campus, some of Anne’s involvements include the Pre-Health Leadership TA Council, Baylor Bridge Pre-Health Leadership Council, Alpha Epsilon Delta.
Anne’s favorite reading list book was Augustine’s Confessions. Her thesis is a systematic review on AI integration into cardiotoxicity screening for cancer patients receiving immunotherapy. Anne has worked with faculty mentors Dr. Nikolaidis, Dr. Lisa Go, Dr. Blake Burleson, and Dr. Richard Sanker.
To the new students Anne says: “Don’t be afraid to explore opportunities outside of your original plan — some of the most meaningful experiences come from saying yes to unexpected chances, whether that’s a research project, service trip, or a new leadership role. Lean into mentorship, ask questions often, and remember that building relationships is more meaningful than building a résumé.”
Extracurricular Experiences
Pre-Health Leadership TA Council (Head Coordinator) – I oversee the coordination of events and programs for Baylor’s 12 pre-health leadership organizations, including PHP courses and pre-health programming. This role has provided me with experience in mentorship, event planning, and fostering collaboration between student groups.
Global Health Service in Kenya (Straw to Bread) – I volunteered with a women’s health initiative in rural Kenya, where I helped provide reproductive health education and assisted with patient intake alongside local translators. This experience shaped my perspective on cross-cultural healthcare and service.
Research in Cardio-Oncology – I co-authored a systematic review on immunotherapy-related cardiotoxicity and presented it at conferences such as TxSCO, ASCO and APSA. This project introduced me to academic publishing and demonstrated how undergraduate research can make a direct contribution to medical science.
