  • Biology and Business Administration

Esme Ward is a Junior University Scholar from Huntsville, Texas, concentrating in Biology with a minor in Business Administration. She lived in Penland Hall during her freshman year and plans to attend medical school after graduation. Outside of the classroom, Esme is highly engaged in Greek life, pre-health organizations, and community service. On campus, she is a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority, the Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Health Honor Society, and a Community Group at Highland Baptist Church.

Her clinical and philanthropic journey includes an ongoing internship with the Waco Advocacy Center for Crime Victims & Children, which began in May 2026. Working under their Medical Advisor and Child Sexual Abuse Examiner, this deeply impactful experience has broadened her understanding of the complex intersections between healthcare, law, philanthropy, and community service. nEsme’s favorite reading list book is Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis.

When asked for her advice to new students, Esme shares: “Take a deep breath! Four years is a lot of time and also can feel like no time at all. Enjoy the opportunities set before you! Spend time learning what it is you are most passionate about and pursue that with dedication. But remember not to disregard hanging out with friends, enjoying your college town, and just having fun! There are so many resources available to help you succeed, and faculty who want to see you do so. You've got this! Philippians 4:4-8.”
