Grace Vareed

  • Biochemistry, Medical Humanities, and Music

Grace is a Junior University Scholar from Canyon, Texas, concentrating in Biochemistry and Medical Humanities, with a minor in Music. She lives in the Honors Residential College and plans to attend medical school after graduation. Outside of the classroom, Grace is highly engaged in campus leadership, academic programs, and clinical experiences. On campus, she serves as a Community Leader at the Honors Residential College and is a member of Baylor’s A Capella Choir, the Micah Scholars Program, and the Crane Scholars Program.

Her clinical experience includes a summer internship at Waco Family Medicine under Dr. Chad Thompson. She considers this the most impactful moment of her pre-med journey, as it revealed the true meaning of holistic healthcare and highlighted the powerful influence of social determinants of health.

Grace’s favorite reading list book is Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis. For her thesis, she is interested in exploring topics related to medical humanities and her experiences as a Micah Scholar.

When asked for her advice to new students, Grace shares Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
