Hannah Yi

Hannah is a University Scholars alumna from Winchester, Massachusetts, who concentrated in Philosophy, Medical Humanities, Biology, and Religion and graduated last spring. During her first year at Baylor, she lived in Kokernot Hall and has since set her plans to attend PA school. On campus, Hannah was involved in the Ethics Society, the Bioethics Bowl, the Ethics Bowl, Young Life, and the William Carey Crane Scholars program.

Her favorite reading list book was The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. For her thesis, she explored the use of AI in clinical medicine, working alongside faculty mentors Dr. Jason Whitt, Dr. Chad Thompson, Dr. Devan Stahl, and Dr. Anne Jeffrey.

Beyond her coursework, Hannah gained hands-on experience through her extracurricular involvements: she completed a Biomedical Ethics Research internship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where she worked with a faculty mentor to research the influence of AI in clinical care, and she worked as a student office worker and Teaching Assistant for the Medical Humanities department, assisting professors with grading and class preparation while serving as an ambassador for the program.

Encouraging incoming students, Hannah shares this advice: “It’s okay to change your concentrations to explore new areas of interest!”
