- Creative Writing, Spanish, and Religion
Laura Jane is a Senior University Scholar from Setauket, New York, with minors in Creative Writing, Spanish, and Religion. She lived in the Baylor and Beyond Living-Learning Center in North Russell Hall for her first two years and plans to serve overseas as a long-term missionary after graduation. Outside of the classroom, Laura Jane is deeply invested in mentorship, ministry, and community engagement. On campus, she is active in Young Life and works as a Spark Guide at the Mayborn Museum, where she helps facilitate educational experiences for visitors. In the broader Waco area, she extends her impact by serving as a WyldLife leader at China Spring Middle School, investing in the lives and spiritual growth of local students.
Laura Jane has a profound love for reading, writing, and discussing literature. Her favorite reading list books are John Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress and Jane Austen’s Emma, and she also thoroughly enjoyed diving into Homer’s The Iliad, Virgil’s The Aeneid, and Fyodor Dostoevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov through her Great Texts coursework. Combining her academic passions with her creative talents, Laura Jane is currently writing an original Young Adult novel for her Honors Thesis.
When asked for her advice to new students, Laura Jane shares: “Take advantage of the many opportunities here at Baylor, get involved early, and pursue something that you genuinely enjoy doing.” She adds that she is always willing to grab a cup of coffee or tea and chat with anyone looking to connect!
