Rebecca Tietze

Rebecca is a Senior University Scholar from Corpus Christi, Texas concentrating in Biology and Piano Pedagogy. Rebecca lives in Memorial Residence Hall and is currently applying to Biology MS and PhD programs across Texas. On campus, Rebecca is involved in BRH choir, Freshmen Engagement in Honors Residential College, and attends First Woodway Baptist Church.

Rebecca’s favorite reading list book was Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. For her thesis, Rebecca is researching the genetic variability in toxin production within a species of Cyanobacteria.

To the new students Rebecca says: “The University Scholars program can be tough, but it is also so rewarding!”

Extracurricular Experiences:

BRH Choir- Christian choir organization that sings at churches near Waco

Semester Abroad in Dublin, Ireland- researched at University College Dublin and travelled to 14 different countries.

Summer Internship with Baylor College of MedicineResearched the inflammatory affects of bile acids on the liver in cell culture and piglets.
