Spend the fall semester living and studying in the heart of Rome while remaining closely connected to Baylor’s academic community. Baylor in Rome offers students an immersive experience at the intersection of ancient tradition, Christian history, and contemporary global life set within one of the world’s most influential cities.
This semester program also marks an important milestone as Baylor launches its Rome hub, expanding the university’s global presence and deepening opportunities for experiential learning in Italy.
Academic Experience
Students enroll in 12–15 credit hours, combining Baylor-taught courses with offerings through AIFS. Courses are designed to integrate Rome itself as a classroom, drawing on the city’s history, art, architecture, and social life.

BA and BS students can fulfill three core requirements through Baylor coursework, with additional elective options available. GTX 2301 fulfills the Literature in Context requirement.
Students will select from courses in Italian culture, classics, communication and media, history, Italian language, political science, and more.
Program Structure
Class schedule: Monday–Thursday
Fridays: Reserved for course-related field trips and experiential learning
The schedule is intentionally designed to support sustained academic engagement while allowing time for exploration, reflection, and travel connected to coursework.
Excursions & Experiential Learning
Included program excursions provide students with extended opportunities to engage Italy beyond Rome:
Three-day excursion to Florence
Three-day excursion to Naples, including Pompeii and Capri
Trip to Umbria and Assisi
An optional excursion to Palermo and Sicily is available for an additional $645 plus airfare.
