  • Minors in Economics and Psychology, Concentrations in Math and Legal Reasoning & Analysis

Abbie is a Junior University Scholar from Newport Beach, California pursuing a Secondary Major in Economics, Minors in Math and Legal Reasoning and Analysis, and a concentration in Psychology. Abbie lived in Texana House with the HRC during her first year at Baylor and plans to pursue a Ph.D. in economics before teaching and researching in behavioral microeconomics. On campus, Abbie is involved with Christian Business Leaders (Waco Committee), performs Undergraduate Research at the Hankamer School of Business, and serves as a Microeconomics Tutor.

Abbie’s favorite reading list book was John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress. She is interested in pursuing a thesis on the intersection of economics and faith, specifically an economic analysis of the determining psychological peer effects, framing impacts, and drivers of longevity in giving. Abbie has worked with faculty mentor Dr. Jason Aimone.

To the new students Abbie says: “Don't be afraid to explore multiple areas of interest! I arrived at Baylor with a completely different degree than I'll come out with. Pay attention to the classes that get you out of bed each day, then go from there!”

Extracurricular Experiences:

Generative AI Training: for the past two years, I've worked as a generative AI trainer with Outlier AI, pushing the boundaries of current models, ensuring safe interactions, and generating high-level training data.

Undergraduate Research: this past summer, I continued to work with Dr. Mark Hoestra as an Undergraduate research assistant, helping him build datasets and performing various literature reviews in fields as broad as insurance, crime, and public health.
