Alejandro Castrillón, Ph.D.

Dr. Alejandro Castrillon joined the BIC faculty in the fall of 2022. He's a political scientist who specializes in political theory and international relations with a focus in Latin America. He received a Ph.D. in Political Science and M.A. in Iberian and Latin American Studies from the University of Notre Dame, as well as an M.A. in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland
Dr. Castrillon teaches sections of Social World I, Social World II, World Cultures IV, and World Cultures V. Additionally, he has taught Fundamentals of International Politics and Western Political Philosophy in the Political Science Department.
In terms of research and scholarship, Dr. Castrillon is currently preparing his book manuscript, Simón Bolívar and the Seeds of Social Liberty, for publication. He has published articles in the American Journal of Political Science, Perspectives on Politics, History of Political Thought, and the Political Science Reviewer. He also coedited a volume with Dr. A. James McAdams, Contemporary Far Right Thinkers and the Future of Liberal Democracy in which he also contributed a chapter.
