Riley Davis

Riley is a Senior University Scholar from Houston, Texas concentrating in Biochemistry, Medical Humanities, and Professional Writing and Rhetoric. Riley has plans to attend medical school after graduation. Riley lived in Martin Hall during his first year at Baylor and favorite reading list book was The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis.  

On campus, Riley is involved in Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Health Honor Society, The Ethics Society, Phi Kappa Chi Fraternity, Hillis Scholars, and DeBakey Scholars.  

Riley is also involved in the Pre-Health Research Scholars program with Dr. Richard Sanker where he has co-led a new research project within the novel field of cardio-oncology. This project has also inspired his thesis where he is investigating the effect of comorbidities on the incidence and severity of oncological immunotherapy associated cardiotoxicities.  

Riley’s favorite reading list book was The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. He has worked with faculty mentors Dr. Richard Sanker, Dr. Walter Matthews, and Dr. Chad Thompson.  

To the new students Riley says: “Proverbs 3:5 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” 

Extracurricular Experiences: 

Clinical Internship: Riley spent a summer interning at Heal the City Free Clinic in Amarillo, Texas. He considers this the most impactful moment of his pre-med journey, as it revealed the true meaning of holistic health care and highlighted the powerful influence of social determinants of health.
